The Optimist Annual Oratorical Contest is for young people under 19 years of age who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent and attend school in Rock Hill School District Three. The contest has three levels, they are:

 Each applicant is required to give a 4- to 5-minute speech on the topic “Why My Voice is Important.” Winners progress to the next level.

  • Local Club prize: Medallion
  • Zone prize: Plaque
  • District prize: Plaque and two $2,500 scholarships
