Topic: “Is there a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?”

The Optimist Annual Oratorical Contest is for young people under 19 years of age who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent and attend school in Rock Hill School District Three. The contest has three levels, they are:

 Each applicant is required to give a 4- to 5-minute speech on the topic “How My Best Brings Out the Best in Others.” Winners progress to the next level.

  • Local Club prize: Medallion and Gift
  • Zone prize: Plaque
  • District prize: Plaque and $2,500 scholarship
  • Regional prize: Plaque and $10,000 scholarship
  • International prize: Plaque and $10,000 scholarship
